Public Consultation

The Helston North East Partnership has undertaken a full programme of community engagement. (A note outlining the programme can be downloaded here.) Good engagement is important for us and our approach is fully in line with the Government's encouragement to developers to undertake “pre-application involvement” with communities.

Stage 1 initial consultation consisted of two events. The first was an invited workshop for a wide range of local representatives (Town and Parish councillors, 50+ Forum, local walking group etc.). This was held on 26th February. The report can be downloaded here .

The second was an open, public Drop-in held at the Helston Guildhall on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th March, at which a  very first sketch plan was available, together with a series of ‘Mood Boards’ illustrating the possible qualities of a development. Also see the What’s Proposed page for the Constraints plan added to by people attending the Drop-in. A short Summary Report  was prepared and sent to all who signed in. There is also a Full Report  noting every comment made.

Stage 2 - the final stage of consultation - included a public information and drop-in event on Wednesday 9th July at Helston Guildhall. The exhibition boards showed how we have taken into account feedback from the first stage of consultation. A handout: 'Did we Listen'  setting out the changes made as a result of consultation was also available.

As was hoped, the consultation process provided the team with some very strong guidance about what might make a successful development on the site as well as some important cautions about development of the site in principle. This feedback has played an important role in the shaping of the plans.

Further details about the public consultation can be viewed in the Statement of Community Involvement which has been submitted alongside the planning application.
